about

The oldest song on this EP - written on the 4th of July, 2009. This is one of my favorites and it was supposed to be included on This Channel Has Moved, but we couldn't get a vocal take we were happy with. Very glad to finally have this one out there. There's a hazy, bittersweet quality to this song that reminds me of those humid NoVA summers.

lyrics

Embracing me and holding me
For all this while
The same old faces
The same old smiles
Fastening in place
And never letting go
Never stopping or pausing here
To catch the shapes you throw
I'm always wide awake
These endless summer days
I feel that something's missing

Then I'm out of oxygen
Forget about my friends
I'm happy here
But I need to be somewhere else

There's nothing you can do
To make this worth my while
All the same old faces
All the same old smiles
Make me sick
Sick to the core
Too hard to try
To care anymore
I'm always wide awake
These endless summer days
I feel that something's missing
